I think the motive is twofold. They want to beat Dean out of the nomination because he poses a real threat to their power and they want Clark to have more exposure so they can pair him up with Hillary in 08.


Sounds logical. The Clintons have multiple motives for wanting to stop Dean. He's a threat to their power, he's going to lurch the party to the Left away from DLC territory, and he seems inexperienced and likely to lose big-time. Even now, I think Dean is going to have a bumpy ride as front-runner.
