Mary, good find. I think anyone who (dares) post something on the net realizes it has the potential to reach billions of people. Therefore, no matter how someone may come upon their material (i.e. by accident, referral, or some super-advanced web scouring software), they shouldn't be surprised. Of course, like you, I recognize that any tool of mass extraction can not just be used as a weapon, but also as a deterrent on free speech, and that's not good. Given that there's no stopping technology, and given that the best way to deter people is make examples of others, I do expect some unwelcome fallout from IBM's new web data tool. Guess we'll just have to be vigilant as well in calling attention to any abuses. - Jeff P.S. I would think any company would be lying if they said they haven't monitored their chat/message boards for years. Therefore, the most likely first victims here will be bloggers and owners of small sites.
