Sorry Jeffrey, I'm not buying it. Over a year ago, I had a similar belief. In a series of posts that could be summed up with the phrase It's the oil, baby!, I delineated how the only way out of the money for oil going to Wahabi madrassas, was to get an alternative oil source. While in no way saying that the Iraqi "adventure" doesn't have an oil component, that wasn't (IMO) what was driving the people that started this war. One wonders if Jeffery has taken the time to read the DPG 1992-1994, and Rebuilding America's Defenses. Until he does, and successfully refutes the thesis of the neo-con hegemony motivation, I'm not buying his idea. Oil as a lubricant for hegemony, sure. But as the primary motivation, just doesn't work for me.
