I feel that today's jobless claims were bad actually and the market is just looking for an excuse to rally.

We've been in a declining jobs market for how many years? Jobless claims around 400K now is not an improvement really. Everyone I know lost their UI benefits a year ago at least.

We need the Sept non farm payrolls report to see whats really going on. And I am looking for a bad number.

Having said this, I think the offshoring trend is exaggerated now due to govt policies. For example my team. If these people were not allowed to freely travel here and "learn the ropes", they wouldn't be competitive really. It is only our pro-immigration policies that allow this to happen. Shut off the L-1 visas and jobs will come back, I guarantee it. I know the democrats are willing to address these issues, Dianne Feinstein has said as such. I don't know about Bush but put it this way, if he does not, he will be out anyway. So the reason I think jobs will improve is because I think the climate has to improve, from a legislation standpoint.
