”Yes, I know. The question is not one of the potential for harm from sexual misconduct but the definition of sexual misconduct.

Sorry but that is a tangent. The article we were referring to was based simply on sexual contact. If all sexual contact is misconduct then you may have a point. However, the therapist may not be acting out of line. The client can and often is in their own world. No matter how much training and education you give the therapist you are not going to get a great return under those circumstances.

”The boundary violations that constitute sexual misconduct do not necessarily involve sexual intercourse between the practitioner and the client.

Not necessarily contact at all….

Inappropriate talk or touching, or unnecessary examinations or treatments…

Hey, is it possible that the client just has the hots for the therapist and he hasn’t behaved inappropriately.

It is so overwhelmingly possible that sexually charged situations are pervasive. The reported violations are the tip of the ice burg and you know it.

Ah, but we can prevent the problem….

”Prevention Strategies…training…gaining an understanding of the impact of ones own sexuality and the sexuality of those with whom one interacts professionally;…. learning appropriate ways of behaving…learning about situations…learning about the effects of abuse….understanding the potential legal and financial consequences

Oh great!!!!! Now I see what you and X and Solon mean….They just need to git better larn’n. Because professional therapists never heard of this stuff before. It will all be prevented starting ….ready, set, go …now…

No problem….<sarcasm>
