"He was basically trying to show an example of the type of pressure to draw a link between 9/11 and Saddam"

I think he was being flaky and disingenous at best. A liar at worst. He made the accusation that he was called on 9-11 SPECFICALLY to hype the connection, and when Russert pressed him for details he showed more likely that he was making the whole thing up. And what are "people like this" anyway?. Was he called by a bunch of people on 9-11 or just one? Why was nobody else called? I guess Clark is kind of special (in his own mind).

"George Will simply made up the stuff about Clark saying that the White House called."

Here's the main quote (form your source):

"Russert: By who? Who did that?

Clark: Well, it came from the White House, it came from people around the White House. It came from all over. I got a call on 9/11. I was on CNN, and I got a call at my home saying, "You got to say this is connected. This is state-sponsored terrorism. This has to be connected to Saddam Hussein." I said, "But -- I'm willing to say it but what's your evidence?" And I never got any evidence. And these were people who had -- Middle East think tanks and people like this and it was a lot of pressure to connect this and there were a lot of assumptions made. But I never personally saw the evidence and didn’t talk to anybody who had the evidence to make that connection."

Can't you read that and see how someone could say the call was from the White House? Those were the 1st words out of his mouth? That people like you can be so easily convinced by left wing fanatics in unknown publications is hilarious. You say you "totally debunked the accusation" and Clark himself never even said who called him. But he DEFINATELY implied it was the White House.

Looks to me like Clark is part of the lie (if not the source) that the Demos (like poster laura_bush) pass as truth that Bush directly linked Saddam and 9-11. There is far more evdence in the transcript to support Will's position than yours. It's no wonder your party is in such trouble.
