Not a new attack, this is an on-going problem:

Security tips for the SI friends here: In general, never trust any virus/security alert you receive by email even if it appears to be sent by someone your know. Never execute any attachments unless the attachment is expected and confirmed with the known sender. Never click on the link on the message unless the sender is authenticated. Win ME/2000/XP has a feature called WindowsUpdate, use it often (weekly) to patch up your system. And make sure you have anti-virus real-time scanning "all files" with latest signature. Firewall is a good idea too especially you have cable/DSL, XP has built-in firewall but it is only an inbound firewall, you can use ZoneAlarm for free and it is an excellent full-feature two ways firewall.
