Abacus was featured in IBD's New America section on 8/6. Of strategic importance looks like they're applying their business plan to other direct maketing formats: credit cards, magazine subscriptions and insurance offers. Looks like few rivals offer ABDR's breadth of service in the cataloge market, so as new direct mail markets open up for them they will have a comparative advantage. The Abacus alliance stood 2nd Q at 765. Mr. White (CEO) has I.D. another 600 catalogs they liked to recruit. Will be interesting to find out what % were sucessfully brought on board.
