From my foreign service career, I can echo the same sentiments about many ambassadors and politicians, and almost anyone with the title "special envoy".

One of many reasons I no longer work for that crowd. But frankly, I don't expect to find anyone running for office these days without some or all of those qualities.

Decent, modest people usually know better.
