In terms of the tragic casualty losses of history, 9/11 doesn't register a blip on the meter. It's not the catalyst you can use to justify all sorts of unpalatable acts that would otherwise be repugnant to the American public. The millions of Vietnamese civilians that died in Vietnam, the hundreds of thousands and millions that died in Europe and Japan in firebombing and other bombing, the tens of thousands of civilians that have died in Afghanistan and Iraq, the millions that have died in Africa, many of them knifed, clubbed, tortured and raped, the huge losses of life in Cambodia-GET REAL.

Every loss of life is tragic BUT ONCE IT IS SUFFERED WE MUST LOOK TO THE FUTURE. Those that pound their chests and tear out their hair in grief and seek revenge or a false sense of security by targeting entire cultures, nations or religions are FOOLS. It's the fuel that feeds terrorists that caused 9/11, not our constitutional protections or the regime in Iraq. Take the losses like a man and move on to REAL preventative measures, not feel-good, kill somebody, spin it to make us look dangerous, foolishness.

I am saying it and saying it clearly, 9/11 is over. It was tragic but it's not an excuse to run around like a homicidal idiot and destroy ideals and rights that created and have guided this nation through many tougher times in history. We need to stop pampering ourselves with outrage and pity. In most of the world over the last 3 decades, the losses of this country would be considered a blessing when compared to what others have suffered.

You can't hide behind that sad event forever and if you think that force of arms is what made America great, you need a history lesson.
