Seems to me the if should come before the how.

I take your point, but disagree. You want to dismiss the accommodation out of hand. I want to explore it fully to see if there's any way it could be made to work.

This serves two purposes. One is that it gives Mojo the respect of a full hearing, the benefit of any doubt, and a legitimate try to find a win-win. I have, myself, been the odd man out in enough venues to appreciate the dynamics of accommodation and exclusion from the position of the outsider.

The second is that if, in the final analysis, an accommodation cannot be reasonably made, the party at least has the benefit of insights and understanding of why it's unfeasible or impractical or wrong and can better deal with the disappointment, perhaps even come to understand and agree with the necessity of the disappointment. Thus all the potential hows need to be explored prior to a determination on the if.
