There is no question hat the US has an arrogant way of delegating their policy but so do China and Japan and other Asian countries the difference is that the US is vocal at a time that those countries arrogance is reflected by inaction or determent action to sub mine others economic interests.

My harsh conclusion in my previous post derives from history more specifically the W.W.II.

I am not sure as to Japan logic to attack the US at Pearl Harbor except for some illusionary hope of total dominance in the Pacific Rim, but would like to bring up the fact that Japan lost the war after the battle of Midway and loosing their control over the Philippines.

It was not sufficient for Japan leadership at the time to see the "writing on the wall" and declare defeat or ask for cessation of hostilities.

In their arrogance they ordered their troops to fight to death and commit suicide action to inflict as many causalities on the Americans as possible. It was a senseless arrogant and defiant action which cost way to many lives on both side for a lost cause.

IMHO the US had no choice but to relay on extreme action the atomic bomb. Again in their arrogance after the first bomb was dropped and million of innocent people perished Japan leadership refuse to call it quits. More millions of their people needed to die because Japan leadership stubbornness and arrogance, to finally bring not to a cease fire which was attainable before but to a total surrender.

From recent events on various levels I get a sense that this type of "underdog" arrogance is part of Far East culture. Several Centuries ago Japan closed itself in a "cocoon" to avoid European influence (e.g. mostly Portuguese and Spanish influence).

Today we are still dealing with similar resistance to western way of doing business but on the other hand same people take full advantage of the opportunity offered by western society, and not engaging in an even handed playing field of trade and commerce.

I hope that this post may explain why I think strong warnings backed by action are needed in dealing with China and Japan.
