I would not argue the influence of parents in the education of their children.

Nor would I discount the influence of the schools. In my experience, it was the good teachers that motivated and inspired me. I think there is a direct correlation to the quality of the teachers to the quality of the education.

To get and keep good teachers it takes money. Money to keep the curriculum up to date, money for supplies, and money for good teachers salaries.

Cutting funding is not conducive to that end. Does that mean that the schools should not endeavor to be thrifty in spending the education dollar? Not at all. But shifting dollars away from schools with problems to schools that don't have these problems is bass ackwards thinking.
