Yes, I read his statement.

And I read yours.

I realize that you were responding to his statement that Arafat hadn't said he condemned the bombings. I do read English, you know.

But just as you had a reasonable basis to respond to his statement, I had a reasonable basis to respond to yours.

Now, can you point to any meaningful (not window dressing, meaningful) actions which Arafat has taken to stop the suicide bombers? Has he arrested and tried for being accessories to murder any leaders of Hamas or Islamic Jihad? Has he closed down bomb making factories which operate quite openly in Gaza and other areas under Palestinian control? Has he frozen the bank accounts of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc.? Has he passed a law forbidding the paying of any compensation of any kind to the families of suicide bombers, and enforced that law? Has he ever arrested a single person who planned a suicide bomb attack?

As far as I know, the answers to ALL those questions is no. No, no, no, no, no.

If Arafat used all the power and authority under his control to stop suicide bombings, they would stop either totally or nearly totally. I know that, you know that, Arafat knows that.

So tell us. Why hasn't he?
