I wish I could get online from bed. I'm still not as connected as I'd like to be. Sort of a half solution, but it will have to do for now.

I wonder how politically acceptable farm subsidies would be if it were made clear that they aren't just hurting poor people in the 3rd world. American consumers and taxpayers are taking a serious hit as well - and they outnumber the agribusiness interests by a pretty considerable margin.

Why should Americans pay more for food to subsidize non-competitive producers?

Why should we expect people in the developing world to, for example, respect the Intellectual Property Rights of our companies when we won't let them sell their products - in many cases, the only things they can produce competitively - in our country?

It's all way beyond me....
