That's an interesting point. The Dems' "appeal" to potential voters wasn't sufficient, so their 2000 effort required sending buses and vans through city streets on election day, picking up illiterate people who not only hadn't planned to vote but also didn't know who was running for what, driving them to polling places, and PAYING them with packs of CIGARETTES to vote for Gore!!

This was just one step shy of LBJ's campaigns where thousands of dead people voted for him -- although the Gore/Daly vote theft machine probably used that one, too.
