Yep and Abrham Lincoln, Wilson, both Roosevelts and Washington by your same measures would also go down in history as our worst presidents. All of these Presidents were involved with U.S. wars and they all have monuments to their courage and guts in the face of cowards with big mouths.
For the last time, Al Gore did not win the Electoral College Vote! Electoral College voters are not locked in to whoever the people voted for in the same way that activist judges (who you like) are not locked into giving decisions based on what the law actually says!
And on the topic of reasonable taxes, people work from Jan until late May every year already in order to pay the tax burden for thousands of "would be nice to have" but unaffordable programs. I can't believe that I have to pay for Govt studies on the flow of ketchep before I buy food, housing and clothes for myself. May tax dollars are scoffed up right at the get go. I wish we had a system whereby people had to write out a tax check after every pay check so they know how much money they are spending.
The Constitution is very clear on what Tax Money is for. Its basically only for and one of the very few that is actually listed in the text is to Provide for the National Defense. As much as you'd like to neuter the Armed Forces and use that money for free drugs for the homeless, or Aids research so that people can safely go back to promiscuous homosexual sex, or whatever these are not the critical functions that Taxes are for. And you are never going to get rich yourself by taking somebody else money thru taxes. Keep bumping the tax rates up and guess what, you lose your tax base, those productive people go somewhere else or stop working, or fire all their workers because its no longer worth the big risk of investing your own capital to only have much smaller profits taken away by somebody else. Ever hear of the invisible hand, I believe an Adam Smith term. Thats why communist countries have low productivity. There is no incentive to work your ass off to have to stolen by somebody else, and high taxes are nothing more than legalized theft when the money is used for non-critical programs. |
