Hi DJ - not so sure about the meaning of "rosary and lederhosen."
Lederhosen makes me think of Hitler, whom I just read about in the NYTimes. It seems that Homes and Garden magazine devoted a fawning article to Hitler's "mountain retreat in the Bavarian Alps in 1938. His predominant color theme was a light jade green, which was all the rage at the time and recently came back into style in 2003. I purchased a few light jade green things (plates and pitcher) myself this year.

Rosary is, of course, Catholic church. Some parts of the world (and I wonder if Slovenia is one?) are so Catholic that one can't help but be at least part Catholic by culture, even if one is in fact a devout Marxist. South Louisiana, especially New Orleans, is like that.
Personally, I am going through one of my devout phases. I still have problems (I think priests should be married and not homosexual, I don't really understand filioque', and can never keep consubstantiation straight from transubstantiation) and I don't like the fact that in large part the Church seems to be on a power trip, but still in my mind it is THE church.
I've been looking at a lot of other churches, but I keep coming back because I believe that Christ performed miracles and rose from the dead. I don't think that's a metaphor. If you think it's a metaphor then Christianity is just a nice philosophy. But if you think it's not a metaphor then you may as well be Catholic.
I know you were just joking, which is fine. It just happens that I've been thinking a lot about these things lately, so please forgive me for being serious. |
