I agonized over this and my first inclination was to post as you did. However, I can see the virtue of letting him off, but IF he were to acknowledge the WMD, admit his crimes against his people, publicly urge the people to cooperate with the US or UN to implement a democratic and just government, and publicly urge Iraqis to forget about jihad by everyone who calls himself a mullah, then this could likely save lots of American and Iraqi lives. It's really a conundrum because I often compare him to a mini-Hitler and then ask myself, "Would you let Hitler off if you could save a million souls or so?"
