Lederhosen makes me think of Hitler

The German/Catholic side of my family tree left the Sudetenland (right next to Bavaria) and came to America around 1855. So lederhosen makes me think of Wally Pikal playing three trumpets while bouncing around on a pogo stick and leading his polka band in the upper midwest. I've always wondered how the Nazis arose in the land of cuckoo clocks.
