Hello Haim, consolidation time.

<<… big infrastructure projects in China … Japan went the same route and it did not work for them>>
… The fact that Japan cannot use the otherwise unneeded infrastructure (highways to island with three fishermen on it, airport on island that wasn’t there before, bridges connecting one empty space with another blank territory) may have some bearing on the lack of result they got.
<<What is needed is fiscal stimulus for the inland population … grants and assistance via tax breaks>>
… all already in place, and now pushed as part and parcel of the “Go West” (as in west of China) policy.
<<… and most important of all China and all other populous countries should set a realistic minimum wage well above the prevailing rate today>>
… Haim, the communists and socialists tried this route for 50 years in China and 80 years in Russia, and you can safely conclude that this road leads to ruin as surely as debt repudiation runs to demise.
In Hong Kong, given the absence of minimum wage laws, the aggregate compensation has fallen by 30% within the past 36 months, and Hong Kong is the freest economy in the world, and this path is, as some would say, so far so good.
There is now proposal on the table in Hong Kong that would (a) establish special economic zones in our ‘New Territories’ countryside allowing importation of any qualified labour, do engage in industry and commerce (b) allowing brainy but non-HK citizens to become HK civil servants at whatever the prevailing wage not otherwise allowed by the laws crafted by the civil service, and (c) allows HK residency in exchange for purchase of residence.
Should these proposals actually get through the works, then the future is bright.
<<I am not an apocalyptic person but it seems to me that you are yearning for that … extreme concepts on SI the responses are outright extreme with no positive suggestion for a solution>>
… the embedded links on this achamchen.com page will lead you to earlier extreme concepts and I think they were useful to folks even though they suggested no way out.
I am often not in a position to suggest ways out of quagmires, especially when I see ‘checkmate in three, regardless of what the countering moves are’.
Of the proposals I can make, they are more of a generic longer-term way, such as:
(a) make fewer enemies, and work with the world (b) get the bureaucrats out of the way to natural healing (c) let the market seek its own clearing level (d) do not spend more than you make (e) do not seek maximum leverage in every trade (f) stay away from margin debt (g) be fair (h) do not be greedy (i) obey the ten commandments (j) …

<<Jay with all due respect I think you do not understand the dynamics of French policies since the rose to be a nuclear power>>
… I remember well what the French used to do and the way they behaved, and I think the French learned their lesson the hard way.
… I also think they are trying to make themselves relevant.
… I am intuitively in favor of diversity in this world.
On this … Message 19327334 <<Jay it seems that you do not have a big love for us ..... or am I mistaken ?>>
… I like diversity in the world, and you are mistaken, confusing money matters with other issues, mistaking economic truth with apparent facts.
BTW, what precisely do you mean by ‘us’?
If you mean Americans, the nation, then definitely not … Message 15128571 <<January 5th, 2001>> Message 15134944 <<January 6th, 2001>>
If you mean ethnic origins, then obviously not … achamchen.com
So I am puzzled. What do you mean? Folks who buy Mercedes with borrowed money without intention to payback? Also no, because the payback would still be, and there is no cause for hate.
Declaring wars to destroy what others have built with diligence and hard work, savings and education, and the word hate are alien concepts to me, and if I sense another thinks this way, I use my keyboard in response, to stand firm against Fascism and to turn back the darkness.
BTW, Haim, while I am of the belief that many issues are ‘no right, no wrong, but just is’, I think this sentiment of yours Message 19325148 <<If China would not take the appropriate steps to lift the standard of living of their own population on their own expense, I would fully support a forceful action such as a declaration of war to destroy most of China recent achievement. It will cost a lot human sacrifice and human lives ? So be it! Some were politicians must get it or pay the consequence>>
… is just wrong, and that road leads to ruin, but you know that. You just forgot.
To remind you once again, China has balanced trade with the world. China sells to the US what the US wants to buy. China is not free to use the USD it gets in return, because the US export regime is a controlled and politically manipulated regime. China is not free to invest in the US, because that avenue is a controlled and media manipulated alleyway. China has to buy US treasury bills. John Snow also lobbied China to buy more treasury bills. The press so conveniently went amiss and did not pick up on the irony.
Ask yourself the crucial question. If the Japanese can make a living by selling to China, why cannot the US?
To alert you once more, you are fogged by the media and blinded by the ignorant, of the truth, without even getting the facts right.
This setup, after all, is what led the world to 1929, and then 1939, and you, of all people, should know this.
On this Message 19328199 <<deep depression that Jay so much want it to happen>>,
... my suggestion, again, meaning once more, is:
'let the market clear by itself, stop interfering, so that we can get on with what is productive, and not deal with what cannot be. No one has ever printed themselves to prosperity, and communism plus central planning is a bad idea that has gone kaput already. Facism is just communism coming from the other side of the round-about'. Not surprisingly, Facism also leads to the fall, only harder and more thourough'.
