Brian, it is easy to figure that out.

OK. Here's the calculation. In 1998 there were 1.5 Billion split adjusted shares. Now there are 1.7 billion. So the company issued and sold 200 million shares in 5 years. Assuming an average price of $20/share. That's $4 billion. That's what he means.

I excluded the shares AMAT sold for a penny each to their new CEO. If you include those, add another few $ thousands to the $4 billion.
