Understanding the nature of technology and what it is capable of and using it to have so few casualties is skill and not luck. There was a killing time and during that killing time 100k or so were exposed. Some died. During the war more died in accidents than as a result of direct fire. If 200k had been involved the twice as many accidents would have occurred and likely more killed in action.

More troops present now would mean more targets and more required convoys to resupply. More deaths I hope soon as more Iraqis come online the rate of deaths will decrease. I hope the worse is over. But putting more troops in harms way will not bring Iraqis online much faster and will expose more to danger.

That's not luck, it just what the numbers mean.
