Belief has utility to humans. People wouldn't fight so hard for it if it didn't. I think that's a no brainer.

There are various kinds of belief. As W.C. Fields said, "Everybody has to believe in something. I believe I'll have another drink."

There is belief in justice, in fairness, in charity. But what we're talking about here is a specific belief -- belief in God. That's one that I don't think is a no brainer to everyone.
