KERMODE RESOURCES LTD ("KLM-V")
- More Gold for Kermode at Jackson's Arm
Kermode Resources Ltd. has received the results of its regional soil
sampling at Jackson's Arm, Newfoundland. These results comprise a portion
of Kermode's continuing field program at Jackson's Arm seeking Carlin-type
gold mineralization. Results of rock and stream sediment sampling are not
yet fully available.
Kermode intends to complete final detailed prospecting and geochemical
sampling in preparation for an extensive fall drill program. To date, the
fieldwork at Kermode's Jackson's Arm property has successfully outlined new
indications of gold in several geological environments. Kermode's
continuing fieldwork includes detailed prospecting and geochemical
sampling. Targets are now being selected for diamond drilling planned for
this fall.
Kermode has covered the bulk of the Jackson's Arm property with a soil
sampling program. "B" horizon soil samples were taken at about 250 m
intervals on lines about 500 m apart. A total of 176 samples were taken and
12 of these (7%) contained significantly anomalous gold with values ranging
from 10.4 ppb to 1,032.3 ppb gold (the equivalent of 1 g/t gold).
Significant anomalies were also noted in pathfinder elements such as
antimony and arsenic. The gold in soil anomalies tend to be grouped in
clusters, often near to previously reported gold in till anomalies.
These results give strong support to Kermode's exploration model for
the occurrence of Carlin-type mineralization at Jackson's Arm. Experts such
as Dr. Greg Arehart from the Department of Geological Sciences, University
of Nevada-Reno and Dr. Derek H. C. Wilton a professor in the Department of
Earth Sciences, Memorial University of Newfoundland, have confirmed
Kermode's view of the potential of the Jackson's Arm property to host
Carlin type gold mineralization.
Kermode's Jackson's Arm property has had 63 drillholes totalling 8,752
meters drilled by a former owner. This drilling was not aimed at a Carlin
type target, in fact the possibility of this type of target at Jackson's
Arm was not even recognised at that time. The drilling was concentrated in
a 3 to 4 square kilometre portion of the 37 square kilometre property with
the balance of the property relatively unexplored.
The property now consists of 149 contiguous claims covering 3,725
hectares of highly favourable geology; high gold, arsenic and antimony
values in till; soil; and extensive known bedrock gold mineralization.
