"Ashcroft wants to slowly bleed that right away by starting with the small stuff"

You're buying the demo scare line on this. He wants to have a little more leeway to find and apprehend terrorists. The thought that Ashcroft (and the Bush administration) just want to strip us of our rights so they can oppress us is extreme paranoia imo. They want to protect our most basic right, which is to stay alive. I have seen no evidence (and the ACLU and others will be on it quick) of U.S. citizens loosing their rights.

"the government will have its boot on the people's necks and the people will have no weapon with which to shoot that boot off"

The republican party will protect our 2nd amendment right. If the dems controlled the whole show I would be worried. The best tact is to vote THEM out of power. When it is time to switch to the dems to protect our rights I will be mighty nervous.

You state accurately what one of the most powerful dems says outright (happy with no private guns), and you worry about the guy who wants better access to data TO FIND TERRORISTS who would be happy to kill you. Feinstien is WAAAAAAY ahead of Ascroft on this.

The libs think the 1st amendment is to protect people to make computer generated child porn, and they think the 2nd doesn't even give us the right to bear arms. That is scary, and those are facts on the ground RIGHT NOW. Not 3 or 4 generations away.
