NEW POLL: Most Americans Disapprove of Bush's Iraq Policy VOA News 20 Sep 2003, 23:13 UTC voanews.com A new poll indicates, for the first time, that a majority of Americans disapprove of President George W. Bush's handling of the situation in Iraq. The weekly news magazine Newsweek, in a poll released Saturday, finds Mr. Bush's approval rating on Iraq had fallen 6 percentage points since last week, to 46 percent. The survey also found most Americans - 56 percent - believe the amount of money being spent on Iraq is too high. Six in 10 people, in a Washington Post poll released last week said they do not support Mr. Bush's $87 billion request for Iraq and Afghanistan. The Newsweek poll also found Mr. Bush's personal popularity had dropped to 51 percent, and that a majority of Americans - 57 percent - disapprove of his economic policies.
