We're talking about 160 million people.
Israel could "move" 5 million Palestinians, potentially. The U.S. "moved" the Senecas and Seminoles. There was space, west of the Mississippi. Stalin could "move" the Chechens, and a list of other small nationalities. There was space in Siberia. The numbers are manageable, in those cases. But the Muslim population of India is too large, and too poor, and has no good places to move to (move to Bangladesh? Pakistan?). So, no matter what happens, they won't be leaving. The fact that there is no large out-migration of Muslims from India, does not prove there is no discrimination against Muslims.

Right. India, under the BJP, is a textbook case of illiberal democracy. The majority has voted to oppress the minority. By defining Hinduism as "Indian nationalism", they have defined Muslims (and also Christians and Jews, but not Buddhists) as foreigners. UnIndian. In the same way as Israel defines itself as a "Jewish State", and therefore non-Jews are always second-class citizens at best. Israel and India have almost no Muslims in their armies, and for exactly the same reasons. They cannot be trusted with guns in their hands, as the State is not for them. |
