Iraq is all about money as far as France is concerned and always has been.

I don't think this is true. Long before Iraq became a major issue, the French were staking out the need to block American unilateralism and restrain American use of power as a major part of their political and diplomatic identity. Their recent actions were consistent with this position. It's easier to say that it was about money, because it makes American opponents look mercenary and churlish, but if you look at the long term that analysis just doesn't hold up.

It wasn't about money, or oil, for the US either, though many would like to pretend that it was. A little pattern here: forget the issues, accuse your opponent of being motivated by money. It's common on both sides.
