When I buy options that only run a few months, I usually lose money. When I buy LEAPS, I usually make money. An exception for me recently was to lose some money on some Dow LEAP puts. I think I could have held them longer and made money, but the QQQs looked a lot better so I took a short term loss (with about two weeks to spare) and am trying for a better long term gain. I have loads of BEARX and added more recently.
