Alan - Re your pointer to the abstract on the "weekend effect", I coded up the patriotic and socially responsible strategy of taking the other side of the evil short sellers' positions over the weekend. Trading 1 NQ with market orders, IB commish, and experienced slippage, it is net profitable for 2003 YTD. The catch is that it gives back everything it makes every ten trades or so. I suggest you investigate coupling it with a half lunar cycle discriminator to make it work, shifted as necessary according to planetary alignments (or maybe it's on a payday cycle, who knows). If you look at it for earlier periods it is really ugly (wild swings: It works! Oh God, it doesn't!). Still, it is interesting that it is not a net loser. For people who don't want to make money but just enjoy a roller coaster ride it would be an ideal trading strategy. You have my permission to use it in a Street column. Keep the good trading ideas coming. - Mike
