If I were the US finance authorities, I would start spreading that the demise of the USD is going to be terrible to everyone in the planet. Fear is the biggest motivator on Earth and I would capitalize on it. There would be catastrophes, cataclysms, mayhem, Armaggedom, all kinds of terrible scenarios, so that the rest of the planet would keep artificially propping the USD up. It would work wonderfully.
