Microsemi Introduces New Family of OR'ing Schottky Barrier Rectifiers

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 2003--Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC - News):
* Industry's Most Efficient Solution * Broad Standard Selection Plus Application Specific Devices
Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC - News), a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and power management integrated circuits, has launched a new family of OR'ing Schottky barrier rectifiers providing the lowest forward voltage specifications and highest efficiency available in the industry today.
The new rectifiers, which extend Microsemi's OR'ing portfolio, have power ratings from 1 amp to 240 amps and are particularly well suited for "hot-swap" power applications found in SCSI servers, processor system supports and telecom switches.
Using proprietary Schottky barrier technology, the new Microsemi devices create an ideal match between forward voltage and input resistance to minimize power loss. At 100 degrees C the new rectifiers typically improve efficiency by 10% in most common 3.3V and 5V applications.
"Equally important to the first 14 standard devices in our new family is our ability to target Schottky die and package specifications to satisfy individual customer designs," said Sven Nelson, vice president and general manager of Microsemi's Broomfield, Colorado, division. "That way we can help them minimize power losses while conforming to their circuit restrictions," he noted.
Eight package styles are used, including Microsemi's patented Powermite® and Powermite3® packages, depending upon the specific power ratings required. Industry standard SMS, SML, TO-220, TO-220AC, D-61 and HalfPak are also used.
Immediate delivery is available with prices ranging from less than $0.20 for 1 amp Powermite devices in 10K lot quantities to less than $19.00 for a 240 amp HalfPak rectifier in 500 lot quantities.
Complete technical information on these and other power conditioning products is available on the Microsemi web site, www.Microsemi.com. Standard part numbers for the 1A rectifiers are UPS115U and LSM115J; 3A: UPS315 and LSM315; 6A: UPS615 and LSM615; 20A: FST4515, FST4520, MS2015 and MS2020; 40A: FST8515; 180A: HS18515; and 240A: HS24515. Samples can be ordered through this site or from Microsemi sales representatives and franchised distributors.
