OTOH, could the primaries be a reality check on a Democratic Party heirarchy that has been hijacked by corporations? Here in Central Oregon, I can attest that the central committee of the party has been co-opted, and no longer represents the FDR/JKF idealism of the party. Those who control the local machinery are clearly DLC types who are among those actively engaged in selling out the American worker to the lowest bidder oversees.

There is a problem with the caucuses when they become the playthings of corporations.

Gore Vidal has observed that we are a one party state in America. We have only the moderate and the ultra right wing of the Corporate Party to choose between.

Mussolini had something to say about this once. Italy's PM Berlusconi is working hard to make sure no one remembers how this experiment in corporate excess turned out.
