I think we came out of the last ice age rather abruptly about 12,000 years ago. Right now we are still coming out of the "litte ice age" that hit Europe in the 14th century to the 17th century. Europe is growing warmer now, but is not yet as warm as it was in 1100.

So there's not question that the climate is warming. The real question is, how much has the warming been increased by human behavior, how much could a change in human behavior slow down the warming, and would it be more cost-effective to try to slow down the warming or just to prepare for the effects of the warming?

Nothing I've read so far gives me the feeling that there is really a strong scientific consensus around these last three questions.
