what you are doing is a deliberate mis-characterization of the gist of the conversation ...

when i stated "greed, for lack of a better word is good..."

the context was that of wealth transfer

i happen to agree with gp and grace z. that the best person to decide the allocation of one's wealth is self

some may call that greed for lack of a better word...

it also the basis for capitalism versus collectivism

i am a capitalist

i can do more to advance the wellbeing and prosperity of others by making capital expenditure (risk) that ultimately employs workers who do not necessarily want to take risk, but are willing to expend their labor for capital

it's not necessarily altruistic at it's core, but it is in fact the invisible hand that works to build economic prosperity for all participants.

a worthy goal

so yes...

in that vein....
