Many of the people who claim to be concerned with these issues are actually using them as a device to promote a primitivist anti-human agenda that borders on flat out lunacy, and frequently strays across the border.

And, without question, there are enormous piles of money in the US devoted to undermining even modest attempts to decrease obviously negative things such as acid rain and brown globs over cities. That's the problem.
