Your view is too limited. Religiously based NGOs span a huge spectrum of approaches. Sometimes this variety can be seen within one organization:

You are concentrating on US based outfits too closely - I think this is understandable because some of them have had quite an effect on US foreign policy but there are plenty which just get on with what they think needs doing and never send a lobbyist to Washington or any other Western capital.
