I choose to believe it, and suspect that long ago humans had the same kind of knowledge.

If you look at cultures that rely on traditional medicine, and those that rely on medicine, you will find that those dependant on traditional medicine have lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality rates, far higher death rates from treatable communicable diseases. There is absolutely zero evidence to suggest that any sort of medicinal golden age ever existed.

There are as many scams in the alternative medicine business as there are in penny stocks, and some of them can kill.
