If you look at cultures that rely on traditional medicine... The majority of modern medicines originated from plant sources; ie, aspirin from willow bark, penicillin from mold, etc. Modern medicine has been a blessing in many ways, but has also killed its fair share of patients. Look up the fatality rate resulting from prescribed medications. I've taken garlic, echinacea, fish oil and such supplements for years and have only benefited, so far.
