Yes, Allende was elected President of Chile with 36.2% of the vote.

So what? Does that make it OK to support a military dictator to overthrow the elected guy??? What are you talking about?

Bush only got to be President because Supreme Court stopped the recounting of the votes. In other countries, due to the large number of political parties and the national AND district minimum % levels, it is VERY common for the governing political party to get less than 40% of the votes.

Are you proposing to promote brutal military dictators for those cases as well? I would love to hear your defense on that :-)

Took that mandate to Nationalize the sectors of the economy - often without congressional approval as his party was in the minority

Hello? Are you really thinking?

Allende was a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED leader of ANOTHER country. Another SOVEREIGN country, whose ELECTED leaders can do whatever the hell they want within their own country, until their electorate decides to change them.

Do you have a rational objection to that?

Besides, whatever he was doing cannot be a tenth as bad as the reign of terror and torture Pinochet brought Chile. Think people executed in stadiums. People taken from their homes in the middle of the night and never heard from again. THAT is what you are defending.

How sad.
