Can SSPIF make it vs Texas Instr?
Thur Houston Chronicle had quite an article re TXN and DSP. TXN has shed most of their other businesses in order to concentrate on DSP production. The small research center in Stafford Tx, where DSP started about 10 years ago, is now the major focus of the company. DSP went from being an obsure unit to the primary business of TXN. They expect DSP sales to go from the current 3B this yr to 50b/yr by 2006. TXN knows that Intel and MOT are also getting ready to produce DSPs, but TXN does not intend to lose to INTC as has been the case since 1985.

In short, can SSPIF make it when the 3 big chip makers control the market for DSPs. Vol production, price competition, etc. Does SSPIF have any production agreements with TXN?

Any info, opinions, etc., will be appreciated. The price of SSPIF vs the others looks quite appealing. Thanks...GP
