Seems lots of gold bugs are selling mining stocks as $400 / gets closer.... I got smacked but good today. Very few things up. Prediction - We may have some massive short covering / profit taking before the weekend - shorts have been very beat up past feew months, and may want to lock in their numbers rather than take a chance on any good news or mutual fund mark up activity spoiling their Q3 numbers. Very important to note - we are getting close to the end of Q3 and except for Eastman Kodak (NYSE : EK)_ a known dog stock, there have been NO MAJOR NEGATIVE EARNING PREANOUINCEMENTS. Part of this is companies have guided down estimates so thay cvan beat them. The rest of it they may be some much better numbers across the board. Some companies will report better buisness in North America, South America, China and even Japan, with Europe 'stabalizing'. With all the cost cutting that has gone on, what sort of numbers might result.... This can be a shorts nightmare, and their are still lots of shorts.
