It's got to be a worthless saying if no one knows what it is. FWIW, a list I'm on has it as buy Rosh Hashanah and sell Yom Kippur - and even points to a study that showed it was fairly effective from 1970-1989 (Larry Pesavento). Apparently the origin of it is that Jews would sell and then buy back after the High Holy Days.

Market was oversold as of Wednesday's close. First time in a while that hasn't worked.
