<Once implemented, the law will insist that anyone wishing to change religion apply with an affidavit before the District Collector (a chief government executive) or an equal authority. Further, the official must provide a written order granting his permission.>

This would be like, in the U.S., Black people needing a certificate from the government, before being allowed to convert from Christianity to Islam. And the official who grants these certificates being appointed by a Christian Nationalist government.

Increasingly, it takes a great deal of sophistry, for India to pretend it is still a secular nation with freedom of religion.
