my early years doing this full time. Very heavy in energy from the 3rd qtr 1986 into summer 87. Great run.

Then, I became puzzled about all slippage that started hitting my trades. Win/lose/win/lose. Just spinning my wheels in August. That was back when I used margin. So?

Went from full margin down to just 100% long on a cash basis - 3rd wk of August. Market rolled over and dove into early September. That was the wakeup call that the market was in a whole lot more trouble than I'd thought. Bailed and went to 90% cash UNTIL...get this<lol>

The Friday before black Monday, stuck my toe in the water buying a fair amount of JNJ. When the tsunami selling hit the following Monday, I was a tad over 80 instead of 90% cash. In retrospect, can't bitch I guess. But boy, was I pissed at the time?!
