•Dell DJ and Dell Music Store. The DJ is an MP3 player. The music store, however, is likely to get more attention, given the hotly debated issue of online music and popularity of Apple Computer's iTunes music downloading service.

Dell is providing few details about either offering. The music store "will cover most major labels and artists," says chief marketing officer Mike George. It will work with Microsoft's Windows — a key feature missing from iTunes. So far, iTunes is available only to Apple product users, though Apple plans a Windows version. To use the Dell service, users will not have to own Dell PCs or devices. Rollins promises that prices will be below those of competing services.

By creating a service open to anyone, Dell hopes to dramatically increase its daily interaction with consumers, George says.
