Granted. But a scuple in and of itself carries a neutral weight. There are scruples which contribute to social value...and there are scruples which lodge people in the quagmires of moral quicksand. Placing a high value on marital fidelity does not require handcuffs or a chasity belt in people of character--people who are sure of their moral nature and their values. That was and is my point. A life-time is a long time sometimes. Each spouse meets millions of people and engages millions of events. I don't think they should handcuff one to the other because either of them might be unfit or dishonest?

I fully accept the good will and intention of those troubled souls who WISH to do good...but who (unfortunately) cannot trust themselves to be faithful without they avoid professional and social events.
