I read John's comment, and I was tempted to post some of the "good riddance to bad rubbish" articles I ran into on the web. There is really a lot of deserved dislike for him out there. The man is largely responsible for the ruination and polarization of our Mid-Eastern departments. he got away with it because it fit in so well with the radical crowd that has been running Academia.
