Bustamante did just fine in that debate. What are you talking about? His "tough love" plan made sense and appealed to average voters making under $75,000 a year.
I don't think he helped himself but he didn't hurt himself either. He was reassuring, even to upper income voters.
He certainly seemed honest and credible.

Arnold was not reassuring and offerd up only slogans and
broad exaggerated statements and statistics.

McClintock, Arianna and the Green candidate helped themselves.

The worst part for Arnold was not not arianna getting his goat but McClintock promising to stay in the race. He made that promise in front of everyone so if he breaks it now he'll shatter a life-time of built-up credibility.
